Zhanna Andreasyan, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports od Armenia wrote on her Facebook page:
“Due to the current situation in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), I have been in constant contact with Hasmik Minasyan, Acting Minister of Education and Culture of Artsakh, since the appointment, regarding the provision of education for the children of Artsakh.
About 300 children from Artsakh are in the Republic of Armenia and cannot return to their families due to the closure of the Goris-Stepanakert road.
In order to ensure the continuity of the education of children in Armenia, we are working with the Syunik Regional Governor's Office to temporarily organize their classes in local schools.
The current situation is a humanitarian crisis and a violation of children's fundamental rights, including the right to education.
Regarding the problem, I addressed the Secretary General of the United Nations Children's Fund, UNICEF and the head of UNESCO with appropriate letters.”
