On December 15, the Human Rights Defender, Ms. Kristinne Grigoryan, received U.S. Ambassador to Armenia, H.E. Ms. Lynne Tracy, who is completing her diplomatic mission in Armenia.
The Defender thanked the Ambassador for her cooperation and support, stressing her readiness for cooperation.
The Ambassador, in turn, highlighted the work done by Ms. Grigoryan, underlining that the use of the best international practices by the Defender's Office. The Ambassador particularly emphasized the work done by the institution in recording and communicating the facts of the war crimes committed by Azerbaijan.
The Defender emphasized the commitment of the Human Rights Defender’s Office to the protection of human rights. According to her, the institution is best able to maintain the internationally defined standards for national institutions in all areas of rights protection.
The Defender expressed her gratitude for the support of the US Embassy, and also presented the details of her recent visit to the United States.
The interlocutors also talked about the two newly formed councils under the Human Rights Defender - the Public Council on Women's Rights and the Public Council on the Protection of the Rights of Children and Youth. They emphasized the involvement of women and children from the regions.
At the end of the meeting, the Ambassador wished Grigoryan success, expressing hope that cooperation between the Defender's institution and the US Embassy will continue in the best possible way during the tenure of the newly appointed US Ambassador to Armenia. The Defender thanked Ambassador Tracy for her mission in Armenia.
