Member of Parliament of Armenia from the ruling Civil Contract faction Hripsime Grigoryan calls on the UN Security Council members, the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing and member states to send a fact-finding mission to Nagorno-Karabakh to conduct monitoring.
In her remarks the lawmaker said the fact that by the blocking of the Lachin Corridor Azerbaijan has directly violated its obligation of the 2020 November 9 trilateral statement does not need to be proved.
“The Republic of Azerbaijan guarantees the traffic safety of citizens, vehicles and goods in both directions along the Lachin Corridor. In the same way, the fact, that by blocking the corridor which is the only way of life of Nagorno-Karabakh Azerbaijan is holding around 120,000 people, including women and children, under blockade, leading the situation to a humanitarian crisis, does not need to be proved. Yesterday, by cutting the gas supply in conditions of winter and leaving the population of Nagorno-Karabakh without heating, Azerbaijan is deliberately escalating the situation.
In these conditions we record that the peacekeeping mission of the Russian Federation must restore the control in the Lachin Corridor, moreover, immediately and with all means.
We call on the members of the UN Security Council, the OSCE Minsk Group co-chair and member states to send a fact-finding mission to Nagorno-Karabakh for conducting monitoring. We believe that the fact-finding mission must have a goal not only to collect information, but also to serve as a signal that the situation is threatening and dangerous. The fact-finding mission must be on time and urgent because human lives can be directly affected by it”, the lawmaker said.
She also called upon all political and civil entities inside and outside Armenia to unite for the benefit of the security of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh.
