Today, the Human Rights Defender Ms. Kristinne Grigoryan held a meeting with the President of the UN Human Rights Council (President of the 16th cycle (2022), and the Permanent Representative of Argentina to the United Nations Office, Ambassador Federico Villegas, the Ombodsperson’s press office rports. The Defender presented to her interlocutor the activities of the Defender’s Office as a national human rights institution. The defender also expressed her gratitude to Ambassador Villegas for his participation in the Global Forum Against the Crime of Genocide, for his important messages, and for his significant work at the UN Human Rights Council.
The Human Rights Defender used the opportunity to present to the President of the Human Rights Council the humanitarian consequences and risks of the closure of the only road connecting Artsakh with Armenia by the Azerbaijanis and stressed that international organizations should not ignore such genocidal policies.
The participants of the meeting exchanged ideas on the possibilities of raising such issues within the framework of various mechanisms of the UN.
