French President Emmanuel Macron said he is in direct contact with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, and sees negotiations as the only way to find a solution to the situation around Ukraine.
“I always have regular conversations and direct communication with President Putin because I believe the best way to maintain interaction is to maintain this direct channel,” Macron said in an interview with US television channel CBS News.
Answering a question about resolving the current situation, the French president noted that “the Ukrainians must decide.” “The only way to find a solution is through negotiations. I don’t see a military option,” Macron said.
