On November 18, within the framework of the 43rd Session of La Francophonie Ministerial Conference, the Foreign Minister of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan had a meeting with the Foreign Minister of Benin Aurélien Agbenonci.
Highlighting the importance of promoting bilateral contacts, the interlocutors noted that the existing potential in the relations between Armenia and Benin has not been fully realized. Ararat Mirzoyan and Aurélien Agbenonci noted that this year marks the 15th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Benin, expressing hope that it will give a new impetus to the cooperation between the two countries.
The Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Benin discussed the prospects of expanding cooperation in bilateral format and developing trade-economic relations.
Reference was also made to the collaboration on international multilateral platforms. The interlocutors highly appreciated the cooperation established between the two countries within the framework of The International Organisation of la Francophonie. Foreign Minister of Armenia noted that Armenia attaches importance to the deepening of relations with the states of the African continent in various directions, stressing that the OIF platform provides wide opportunities in this direction.
The sides exchanged views on issues of mutual interest of regional and international agenda.
At the end of the meeting Ararat Mirzoyan and Aurélien Agbenonci signed a Protocol on the establishment of a political and diplomatic consultations mechanism between the Foreign Ministries of Armenia and Benin.
