President of Turkey Recep Erdogan refused to take part in an international security forum in Halifax, Canada, Politico reports.
The publication refers to information received from US senators. They said that Erdogan’s speech was originally included in the agenda. Other Turkish officials were also scheduled to speak.
It is noted that Turkey refused to participate in the conference, citing the need to maintain the “grain deal”. However, US senators believe that the matter is different.
The publication cites the opinion of Senator Jim Rish, who believes that Erdogan did not want to listen to the reproaches of American lawmakers dissatisfied with the “delay” in the entry of Sweden and Finland into NATO.
