The development of special friendly relations with Georgia is among the most important priorities in the foreign policy of Armenia, Speaker of Parliament Alen Simonyan said in Tbilisi.
“We are greatly interested in the establishment of strategic partnership with Georgia”, the Speaker said following the meeting with his Georgian counterpart Shalva Papuashvili.
Alen Simonyan said that the centuries-old Armenian-Georgian friendship is based on common values and historical-cultural heritage, adding that their meeting enabled to continue the discussions that started in Yerevan this year in autumn.
“We discussed various areas of the bilateral cooperation – education, culture, transportation, communication, etc. We discussed the issues relating to the infrastructure projects aimed at ensuring the necessary engagement in international transportation and communication projects”, Alen Simonyan said.
He said that he and his Georgian counterpart also discussed the regional security and peace, and that despite the fact that the Armenian side is committed to the agenda of establishing peace and stability in the region, Azerbaijan continues its maximalist policy and aggressive rhetoric, endangering the security of the region.
Alen Simonyan highlighted Georgia’s steps aimed at establishing and preserving peace and stability in the region.
