Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, referring to the question of Parliamentarian Zaruhi Batoyan of the Parliament’s ‘Civil Contract’ faction during the Parliament-Government question-and-answer session, said that they have a positive attitude to the idea of developing Armenia-Azerbaijan inter-parliamentary relations.
“We have a positive attitude to the idea of developing inter-parliamentary ties, but if you have paid attention to the formulation of the trilateral statement in Sochi, it emphasizes the improvement of the existing atmosphere in order to establish and develop such ties,” Pashinyan said.
According to the Prime Minister, it should be understood that it is extremely difficult for our delegates to go and discuss inter-parliamentary issues in the presence of acute humanitarian issues, including the issue of captives.
“In general, yes, of course, we have a positive attitude. If we are talking about the peace agenda, it is an important part, and not only inter-parliamentary, but also public relations. But I say again, it is very important that there is an appropriate environment to make these discussions effective, otherwise these discussions only emphasize the problem without offering solutions,” the Prime Minister stated.
Answering the next question, which referred to the state budget expenses for the diplomatic corps, Nikol Pashinyan reminded that the dram gratuities paid to our diplomats were brought in line with the UN standards.
“It is one of the directions to make our diplomatic service more effective, and the issue is in the center of our constant attention. Now we have a certain policy. We want to increase the infrastructural capacity of the embassies,” said Pashinyan, emphasizing that a task has also been set so that private individuals do not sponsor the embassies.
