On November 15th, Ambassador of Armenia to Poland Samvel Mkrtchian held a meeting with Mr. Radoslaw Fogiel, the newly appointed Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Sejm of Poland. Mr. R. Fogiel is also the Chairman of the Polish-Armenian Parliamentary friendship group.
The interlocutor was comprehensively informed on the security environment around Armenia, the large-scale military aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan on the sovereign territory of Armenia on September 13-14th, and the war crimes committed against Armenian prisoners of war. Azerbaijan's non-constructive and maximalist position in the ongoing negotiations and the unacceptable militaristic rhetoric of the highest leadership of that country were touched upon.
S. Mkrtchian commended the involvement of the EU Monitoring mission, as well as the OSCE Needs assessment team and emphasized the necessity to extend the timeline of activities of the EU mission. He underscored the importance of expressing clear positions by the international community and European partners in order to prevent further escalation and provide a favorable environment for the negotiations.
