Patrick Kanner, member of the French Senate, noted that the project submitted to the Senate will allow to reaffirm France's willingness to support the establishment of a stable peace and support the Armenian people who are suffering because of neighboring nationalists.
“We demand that the Armenian prisoners be returned without preconditions. We demand that the Azerbaijani troops be withdrawn from the Lachin Corridor without preconditions. The sovereignty of the Republic of Armenia must be respected, international agreements must be implemented. Azerbaijan is trying to advance its expansionist ambitions. France should play a role in solving this problem,” the Senator said.
According to him, Russia and its allies cannot ensure peace in the region.
“The French President is making active efforts. The EU must make a decision and bring its gas and oil purchases in line with international law. It is necessary to act at the highest level, to ensure long-term peace through the UN and the OSCE Minsk Group. Everything should be done so that Azerbaijan commits to resuming diplomatic negotiations to achieve a long-term and just peace,” Kanner said.
