Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani referred to the negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan during a press conference, noting that Tehran undoubtedly welcomes diplomatic dialogues, which is one of Iran's priorities.
Kanaani, in response to the question regarding the recent statements of the President of Azerbaijan, as well as some media of that country, against Iran, stated:
“As you know, last week the Ambassador of Azerbaijan in Tehran was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Iran's strong complaint was presented to him. Iran's policy is based on the expansion of neighborliness and cooperation with its neighbors, and Azerbaijan is not an exception in this matter. But no one has the right to misunderstand this policy of Iran. Our behavior does not become emotional from such “insignificant winds”, so nobody should interpret Iran's silence and patience as the country's weakness. Our policy with our neighbors is based on strengthening the neighborhood, so it is useless to express positions and complaints behind the back of the media.”
