Davit Grigoryan performed successfully in the 88 kg weight category on the second day of the World Sambo Championship 2022. In the preliminary matches, he easily defeated the Frenchman Jean Delonsa (3:1), then in an almost equal fight (1:1) he overcame the obstacle of the Georgian Paata Ghviniashvili.
The next rival of our athlete was Jeyhun Huseinov from Azerbaijan. The quite dramatic and tense wrestling ended with the victory of sportsman from Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) (5:4). His competitor for the gold medal was Russian, three-time world champion Sergey Ryabov.
Unfortunately, David could not resist his opponent and got the silver medal.
Yesterday, Maxim Manukyan won a bronze medal in the 64 kg weight category.
Aleksan Stepanyan (79 kg) and Arsen Khanjyan (98 kg) will compete on the third day of the championship.
