US Ambassador to NATO Julianne Smith said that the United States expresses hope for the launch of the negotiation process between Russia and Ukraine.
“We look forward to a negotiation process in the future,” she said in an interview with the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera.
However, Smith stressed, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky should determine the terms of the negotiations.
She added that the North Atlantic Alliance and the United States are "in daily communication with the military command of Ukraine."
On November 8, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko announced that Moscow had no preconditions for holding negotiations with Kyiv.
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that Kyiv and its curators do not need negotiations, their goal is destructive.
