Turkish President Recep Erdogan signed a decree appointing Sakir Ozkan Torunlar as Turkey’s ambassador to Israel.
The decision was made after the restoration of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The respective document was published in the Turkish official bulletin, RIA Novosti reports.
Earlier, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu had announced that Turkey has decided to appoint an ambassador to, and restore diplomatic relations with, Israel.
Torunlar previously served as Turkish ambassador to Palestine.
