During the weekly briefing, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, referred to the meeting of the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan in Washington.
“From the comments of the two countries, we saw that the exchange of opinions on the issue of the preparation of the peace treaty continues. The discussion was held also taking into account the results of the Sochi summit. I have not seen anywhere that the parties refuse to refer to the agreements reached.
Let me remind you that in the joint statement of October 31, the heads of states emphasized the importance of preparing a peace treaty between Baku and Yerevan in order to achieve stable and long-term peace in the region.
It was agreed to continue the search for mutually acceptable solutions based on the current developments.
We will provide any support we can to this process. As for Russia's role in the settlement, the leaders in Sochi reaffirmed their commitment to all trilateral agreements. All this is the basis of joint work towards the comprehensive regulation of bilateral relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan,” said Zakharova.
