European Union diplomacy chief Josep Borrell admitted that the EU is even more dependent on supplies from China for its ambitious climate neutrality plan than it is on Russia's energy resources.
China plays a key role in many supply chains. The EU dependence on China for our green transformation strategy exceeds its dependence on fossil fuels from Russia, Borrell wrote in his blog on the European foreign policy website.
He explained that the EU is 90 percent dependent on China for supplies of magnesium and rare earth metals, and 80 percent dependent on supplies of solar panels.
According to him, they need to work to reduce overdependence, address vulnerabilities and build resilience.
