Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian had a telephone conversation on Wednesday and exchanged ideas on current regional issues, focusing on the situation in the Persian Gulf, the Russian Foreign Ministry reports.
It is noted that the two ministers confirmed the commonality of the positions of Moscow and Tehran in favor of overcoming the existing contradictions in the region through political and diplomatic means, taking into account the interests of the Middle Eastern states.
The department noted that the foreign ministers of Russia and Iran also discussed the situation in the South Caucasus and other issues of mutual interest.
