The increase in the expenses of the defense sector, the goal of transitioning to a professional army, do not in any way contradict the peace agenda adopted by the Government of the Republic of Armenia. Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan said this at the joint session of the National Assembly committees.
“The army is one of the most important institutions of the state, which should be established, we have a task of having an army of high standards. On the other hand, it does not contradict the peace agenda in any way.
Armenia will consistently advance the peace agenda,” Pashinyan said.
The expenses of the defense sector will increase by 113 percent or AMD 270 billion (over $675 million) in 2023 compared to 2018.
According to the draft state budget of 2023, the expenses of the sector will amount to AMD 509 billion (over $1,272,500,000).
