On October 29, a group of deputies of the French National Assembly, who arrived in Armenia on a two-day visit, visited Syunik region.
The legislators met in Goris with the deputy governor of Syunik Nare Ghazaryan, the head of Goris community Arush Arushanyan, who presented the guests in detail with the situation and problems created in the region as a result of the Azerbaijani military aggression in September. It was noted that the enemy targeted the civilian population, and farmers doing agricultural work were injured. The cases of theft of cattle belonging to the villagers from the sovereign territory of Armenia were reported. "Despite all this, not a single villager left his place of residence," said the head of Goris community. The Armenian side attached importance to the addressed condemnation of Azerbaijan's policy by the international community.
The French parliamentarians noted that they are involved in the processes related to the raising of issues of Armenian concern in the French parliament and today they want to inform both France and the international community and partners about the Azerbaijani aggression against the sovereign territories of Armenia. The guests noted that in the near future they plan to adopt a resolution in the French parliament condemning Azerbaijani aggression and demanding the establishment of lasting peace in the region.
Accompanied by the Deputy Governor of Syunik, the French legislators also visited the villages of Verishen and Vaghatur, which were affected by the military operations of Azerbaijan, and got acquainted with the destruction caused by the aggression.
Reference was made to the deployment of the observation mission, economic cooperation, as well as cooperation between the sister cities of Goris and Vienne.
