The trilateral negotiations between Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev ended in Sochi. According to the office of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, based on the results of the meeting, noted:
"We held three rounds of negotiations today. First with the Armenian delegation, then we talked tête-à-tête with the Prime Minister of Armenia, then we had a meeting with the delegation of Azerbaijan, then with the President, and at the end, for two hours or maybe a little more, the three of us talked. In our general opinion, this was a very useful meeting. It created, in my opinion, a very good environment for possible future agreements on some fundamental issues.
Today we have agreed on a joint statement. I must say frankly, not everything was agreed upon. Some things had to be removed from the text that had been previously drafted by experts. Nonetheless, I agree with the general assessment that the meeting was useful and that creates conditions for further steps toward the settlement of the situation on the whole.
Moreover, when I say "general", I mean the current events of the recent past, as well as what happened two years ago. In any case, we were able to reach an agreement on fundamental issues then, today's dialogue reaffirms that we can also agree on the future of all our countries.
When I say "all our countries", I mean Russia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, as well as all the countries of the region, because all peoples living in this area are interested in the regulation of relations. Russia will do everything to reach a final and comprehensive settlement," he said, noting that according to the agreement, this dialogue will continue, as well as the search for the solutions necessary to end this long-lasting conflict.
