At the meeting with the President of the Russian Federation, Armenia’s Prime Minister spoke about the invasion of Parukh village, Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) by Azerbaijan, highlighting the withdrawal of the Azerbaijani forces.
“The issue of the withdrawal of Azerbaijani troops from the zone of responsibility of Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh, where they invaded in March of this year, is very important for us. Despite the high-level agreements, the Azerbaijani troops have not yet left the zone of responsibility of the Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh. I expect the settlement of this issue during today's discussions,” said Armenia’s Prime Minister.
Nikol Pashinyan also referred to the Armenia-Azerbaijan border delimitation process.
“As for the border delimitation process between Armenia and Azerbaijan, before the start of the works, we have repeatedly emphasized that the process must be preceded by the creation of mechanisms to increase the level of security and stability on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. Russia’s position was that the delimitation process itself will become a border security mechanism. To be honest, we did not agree with that position at that time, but in the end we made a decision to rely on the interpretation of our strategic ally Russia,” Pashinyan said.
The Prime Minister of Armenia emphasized that, despite this, on September 13 of this year, Azerbaijan unleashed a new aggression against Armenia and occupied new territories: “For us, the clear position of the Russian Federation in this matter is quite important: on the need to withdraw the Azerbaijani troops to their positions by May 11, 2021,” concluded Nikol Pashinyan.
