The Human Rights Defender of Armenia, Ms. Kristinne Grigoryan received the delegation of MPs of the National Assembly of France headed by Anne-Laurence Petel. Ms. Grigoryan presented the mandate and guarantees of activities of the Defender’s Office.
The Defender stated that the Institution is accredited by the UN as an independent Institution and has a high level of public trust.
Ms. Grigoryan presented to the French MPs the situation and consequences of the aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan on the sovereign territory of Armenia (September 13-15), she also presented to the interlocutors the ad hoc reports of the Human Rights Defender based on the recorded facts.
The Defender spoke about the cases of returned Armenian prisoners of war, the anti-Armenian policy of Azerbaijan, targeting, torturing and other inhuman treatment of Armenian female servicemen by the Azerbaijani armed forces, widespread Armenophobia in Azerbaijan: "We go after every fact, present them to competent international organizations and diplomatic representatives," –emphasized Kristinne Grigoryan. The Defender also highlighted the importance of giving a clear political assessment to such crimes by political bodies, such as the Parliament of France or the European Parliament.
Ms. Sona Ghazaryan, MP of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia was also present at the meeting and in her speech she emphasized the importance of Armenian-French cooperation on various platforms.
The members of the delegation informed that a resolution regarding the issues presented by the Defender is being prepared by the French Parliament for adoption in the near future.
At the end of the meeting, Ms. Grigoryan expressed gratitude to the members of the delegation of French National Assembly, answered their questions and then conveyed the ad hoc reports published by the Defender.
