It is becoming more and more difficult for the European Union to develop new sanctions against Russia, because the possible restrictive measures are almost exhausted. Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas announced this upon arrival at the second session of the EU summit, TASS reports.
Earlier, the EU presented the eighth package of sanctions against Russia due to the joining of the Donbass, Zaporizhia and Kherson regions to the Russian Federation. The package includes a legislative basis for capping Russian oil prices and 7 billion euros in trade restrictions.
At the same time, as the newspaper Politico writes, referring to sources in EU diplomatic circles, some EU countries are demanding new sanctions against Russia after mass strikes with high-precision weapons on Ukrainian facilities.
Russian President Vladimir Putin also warned Kyiv that the responses will be harsh if the Ukrainian authorities continue to carry out attacks on Russian territory.
