Ukraine has spent its entire annual budget, Verkhovna Rada deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak said. “In just 230 days of the war, we have already spent more than we planned to spend in peacetime for the whole year,” he wrote on Telegram.
So, according to the Ukrainian parliamentarian, in the period from February 24 to October 15, about $38.7 billion was spent from the state budget. Of this, more than 40% was spent on salaries, including $12.4 billion on payments to the military.
Another 21% was allocated for social security of the population, and 13% for the purchase of military equipment, weapons and ammunition.
The remaining funds were spent on medical care for the population, servicing the public debt.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal estimated the country's needs in 2023 at more than $55 billion.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky earlier addressed international partners during a speech at a conference of the World Bank and the IMF with a request to provide loans to the country for the restoration of energy infrastructure, as well as the purchase of gas and coal.
