Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, during a press conference with his Iranian counterpart, Iran's Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, during a media briefing, referred to the unblocking of roads and providing Azerbaijan with the opportunity to establish transport communication with Nakhijevan.
Mirzoyan reminded that in 2020 hostilities in Artsakh were stopped by a trilateral declaration.
"These, then subsequent and related statements emphasize the importance of unblocking the transport and economic infrastructures of the region, in that context the establishment of transport communication between the main part of Azerbaijan and Nakhijevan is also emphasized," he explained.
Mirzoyan informed that Armenia participates in these discussions in a trilateral working format.
"We have announced that we are ready to open a road for Azerbaijani passenger and cargo transportation, certainly confirming, without questioning, that all the infrastructures to be opened or built must remain under the sovereignty of those countries, operate in accordance with the legislation of those countries which they pass, including the way in which Azerbaijanis can reach Nakhijevan or can be used for the citizens and cargo of third countries.
We think there may be more modern solutions, such as electronic cargo declaration", Armenia's Foreign Minister said, adding that the main demand presented by Armenia was mentioned: the infrastructures should remain under the sovereignty of the countries they pass through.
"Unfortunately, we are once again facing the uncompromising behavior of Azerbaijan. I can also say that we see other third countries, sometimes even unexpected third countries, supporting the Azerbaijani interpretation of this path", he said.
