Parallel with active diplomatic contacts in different formats, Armenia sees continuous destructive and maximalist behavior and desire to influence the negotiations with the threat to use force by Azerbaijan.
“Meetings are actively being held recently,” the Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said in response to a question from a reporter during his joint press conference with visiting Norwegian Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeldt. “We are ready and we will make every effort for the active works to continue in the same intensity to eventually establish sustainable, lasting and fair peace in the region. In this regard neither our expectations nor our mood have changed. It is another matter that parallel to these talks we continuously see destructive, I’d say maximalist behavior by Azerbaijan, and we also see their desire and attempt to influence the negotiations through the threat to use force. It is only in this context and this interpretation that I see Azerbaijan’s latest aggression. Another aggression took place before that, and another provocation before that, as well as Azerbaijan’s rhetoric,” Mirzoyan said.
The Armenian FM emphasized that such actions don’t contribute to a constructive atmosphere and talks. Nevertheless, the Armenian side still believes that the final solution must be found around the negotiations table. Mirzoyan said Armenia is ready to continue the efforts.
