The foreign ministers of the 27 EU countries will hold a planned meeting in Luxembourg on Monday, the core of the agenda of which will be the military action in Ukraine, TASS reports.
As a high-ranking representative of the EU told journalists in Brussels yesterday, the foreign ministers intend to approve the training mission of the Ukrainian army, which should start operating in the European territory in mid-November.
In addition, the ministers are expected to give the green signal to another civilian mission to help resolve issues on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border.
“On October 6, a week ago, during the meeting of the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan, France and the President of the European Council, an agreement was reached on the creation of a mission. It is expected that the ministers will approve it on Monday,” the EU official said.
According to the diplomat, there are no details about the mission yet. “I can only say that in the first phase, about 40 observers will be deployed," he said, emphasizing that the first observers will be sent to the border of the two countries from the EU mission in Georgia. “We are taking the staff from our mission in Georgia due to the urgency of the problem,” explained the representative of the European Union.
The EU civilian mission will start operating in October and will last for two months.
