According to Swiss parliamentarians, Azerbaijan invaded the sovereign territory of Armenia, and it bears the full responsibility for the aggression.
The members of the Switzerland-Armenia friendship group who are on a working visit to Armenia in the National Assembly, answering the question of ‘Lurer’, stated that sanctions should be applied against the aggressor state.
The delegation will visit Jermuk, Vayots Dzor province, Armenia, in the near future, and the issue of adopting a resolution condemning Azerbaijan's aggression will be discussed in Geneva today. The Co-chairman of the friendship group, Stefan Müller-Altermatt, also referred to the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, stressing that “political solution must be found.”
Stefan Müller-Altermatt (Co-chairman of the Armenian-Swiss Friendship Group) - We see that there are clear aggressors and victims, we are here to tell you that you are not alone. Azerbaijan has many assets in Switzerland. We must express our position very clearly, do our best to make it clear that Switzerland is not just a safe and secure place where you can keep your money, with which you buy weapons to fight against Armenia.
Since the years of the Soviet Union, the people of Nagorno-Karabakh have the right to self-determination, which is under threat, there is a problem of the existence of the people living there. The political solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh problem has simply been left out of the attention of the international community. A political solution should be found, not resorting to arms. Considering the atmosphere of ethnic intolerance against Armenians for years, the people of Nagorno-Karabakh should not be allowed to be under Azerbaijani rule. It is not possible.
