On October 14, Armenia’s Parliament Speaker received the deputies of the National Council of the Swiss Confederation Stefan Müller-Altermatt and Michel Matter.
The MPs are in Armenia on a working visit, they plan to visit the settlements appeared under fire by the Azerbaijani armed forces.
At the meeting the sides documented that there is a wide arena of cooperation for parliaments, thus it is necessary to use all possibilities.
In this context the activities of the Friendship Groups and the operative response of the issues raised during the mutual visits.
The sides touched upon the aftermath of the last aggression. The RA NA President gave details on the victims and the shelled infrastructure.
“You will visit Jermuk, where you will witness the aftermath of the Azerbaijani aggression. Your Ambassador has already visited Gegharkunik and Vayots Dzor regions, where he got acquainted with the damages caused to the civilian infrastructure in different settlements because of the attack unleashed by Azerbaijan,” he added.
Alen Simonyan expressed gratitude to his Swiss colleagues for speaking with the Swiss Government about the Azerbaijani aggression and its aftermath, noting that he expects practical steps.
It was recorded that the withdrawal of the Azerbaijani armed forces from the RA sovereign territory is a priority problem, and the use of force or threat of force is inadmissible.
At the end of the meeting the RA NA President expressed conviction that after the visit to Armenia, the deputies will multiply their efforts to present the reality unbiased, standing with Armenia and the Armenian people, the Armenian independent statehood, at the same time not forgetting the right of the people of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) to live in their free and safe homeland.
