“The training musters will have a 25-day duration,” Minister of Defense Suren Papikyan said at the Cabinet meeting. Of these 25 days, the reservist called up for training will undergo a 7-day boot camp period and 14 days of active-duty.
“The upcoming training musters will last for 25 days, we are abandoning the three-month musters, but this will be mandatory for all citizens eligible for service,” he added.
Moreover, those being called up will have the chance to choose the date of their training.
In turn, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that the 3-month training musters were problematic.
“It turned out that it is problematic because the reservists are employed. We decided to call up those who are unemployed and also solve a social issue because participants were getting paid, but then we came to a conclusion that it is not effective so we decided to make it a one-month training mandatory for everyone,” Pashinyan said.
