Armenia’s Female citizens could also register and undergo combat weapon firing training in respective shooting ranges, Minister of Defense Suren Papikyan said during the Cabinet sitting. The minister said that they are receiving many applications from women who want to participate in the military trainings.
“We already have a developed program. The Ministry of Defense will make a statement according to which the female citizens of Armenia can register and undergo combat weapon firing training in respective shooting ranges. This is optional, in fact. In other words, the number of hours, the outfit necessary for the participation will be clarified”, he said.
In his turn Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that if they say all citizens of Armenia, women are also among that all.
“At the initial stage, we can go on with the logic of registration, but in women’s case the duration of the training could be made 7 days or 15 days. I agree that we cannot do this now, but this issue must be solved stage by stage. And of course, conditions must be created for implementing it”, he said.
