Russian President Vladimir Putin drew attention to the fact that he and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan manage to have regular contacts despite sanitary and political restrictions.
"Despite all the difficulties related to sanitary and political restrictions, we nevertheless find an opportunity to meet and communicate regularly. This gives good results," the Russian president said at talks on Thursday.
Putin added that all the agreements reached during Erdogan's visit to Sochi in August this year are being implemented.
"We also provide for the gas transit via Turkey to the European countries and Turkey turned out to be the most reliable route today for the natural gas deliveries to Europe," Putin noted.
The Russian leader said it was thanks to Erdogan’s firm position that the plan to build the Turkish Stream was executed and as a result, the route of Russian gas supplies to Europe via Turkey is now the most reliable.
"Although as you have heard, there was an attempt to blow it up, too, on the territory of the Russian Federation," Putin told Erdogan. "But thank God, that didn’t happen, and it [the pipeline] is operating successfully."
