Serbia will not impose sanctions against Russia until the situation forces Belgrade to take such measures. This was announced on Saturday, October 8, by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić in an address to the nation.
As the head of the Serbian state noted, Belgrade will act in accordance with its interests and “owe nothing to anyone.”
“Serbia will not impose sanctions against Russia until the damage exceeds the benefits and forces us to accept a different reality,” Vučić was quoted as saying by the novosti.rs portal.
At the same time, the Serbian leader noted that the situation is constantly changing.
In addition, according to Vučić, other European countries act hypocritically by continuing to buy energy from Russia, but forbidding Serbia to do so.
Earlier, on October 4, Vučić reacted to the words of Ukrainian Ambassador Volodymyr Tolkach that it is becoming increasingly difficult for Kyiv to understand the arguments of Belgrade, which refuses to impose sanctions against Russia.
The diplomat also called on Belgrade to join the anti-Russian policy and noted that Ukraine and Serbia should help each other in military and technical support. Vučić, in turn, said that Serbia would not allow pressure to be exerted on it.
