I welcome the agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan on respecting the national borders with the support of the European Union. The member of the German Bundestag, the president of the German-Armenian Forum, Till Mansmann, stated this.
“The agreement inspires hope that the tension in the South Caucasus region, which was caused by Azerbaijan's attack on Armenia, can be settled diplomatically. Reports of appalling human rights violations related to these hostilities must now be intensively investigated. The crimes committed during and after the battles should lead to criminal prosecution and should not leave the international community indifferent,” said the deputy.
He expressed his belief that respect for the sovereignty of each state's territory, as well as the priority of refraining from the use of force in accordance with international law, should be strictly observed.
“I sincerely thank French President Emmanuel Macron for working so quickly and intensively within the framework of the EU's value orientation to reach the current agreement. As the president of the German-Armenian Forum, I call on the Federal Government to join these efforts and support the peace process in the South Caucasus,” Mansmann noted.
