The basis of the peace treaty should be mutual recognition of territorial integrity by Armenia and Azerbaijan. Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said about this, answering the question of the Public TV about the components of the peace agreement.
“If Azerbaijan recognizes our territorial integrity, which is based on the agreement on establishing the CIS on December 18, 1991, we are ready to go for mutual recognition of territorial integrity on that basis. This is a component of the peace treaty. There is no response from Azerbaijan to sign a peace agreement on that point,” said Nikol Pashinyan.
The Prime Minister mentioned that border demarcation is a separate process, but delimitation can be done very quickly if this basis is recognized.
According to Pashinyan, the next component is that the troops should be withdrawn from the border and a border security guarantee mechanism should be in place, in addition, there should be an international observation mechanism that will ensure the international guarantee of border security.
