In an interview with the Armenian Service of "Voice of America", the Secretary of Armenia's Security Council Armen Grigoryan referred to the meeting with the Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan Hikmet Hajiyev at the White House on the initiative of US President Joe Biden's National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan on September 27.
"We discussed the agenda of settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, as well as the topics of establishing peace in the region. They are related to de-blockade, delimitation, border security, as well as other issues that bring stability and peace to the region", Grigoryan informed.
According to him, today, Armenia and Azerbaijan are discussing four interrelated agendas, which are humanitarian issues, de-blockade, delimitation and demarcation, issues related to the Nagorno Karabakh problem.
"In these directions, we tried to clarify how we move, and the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan is connected with all of these issues. It was clear ho we move on these topics" said the Secretary of the Security Council.
He pointed out two main factors, which made possible to stop the fire during the recent military clashes on the border of Armenia and Azerbaijan.
"Secretary of State Blinken's personal involvement, who had several calls with the Prime Minister of Armenia and the President of Azerbaijan, as well as the intense involvement of the US at other levels, tried to stop the escalation. In this regard, these two factors played an important role, that is, the response of the Armenian army and the involvement of the American side," said Grigoryan.
Armen Grigoryan emphasized that US involvement in the region has a positive effect and brings additional security guarantees.
