Conscript of the Armed Forces of Armenia Davit Gishyan, born in 2002, has been killed in captivity, Spokesperson at the Office of Armenia’s Representative on International Legal Matters Hasmik Samvelyan told ‘Lurer’.
The body of Davit Gishyan has been among the bodies of 32 Armenian soldiers which Azerbaijan returned on September 17.
Davit Gishyan’s family recognized him in the video spread in one of the Azerbaijani Telegram channels.
In the video, it is seen that Davit Gishyan has suffered an injury in the shoulder area and has been taken captive by the Azerbaijani forces. The video showed that he was being provided with a medical care.
“Davit Gishyan was actually killed in captivity. Today we have already informed the ECHR that Azerbaijan has grossly violated Article 2 of the European Convention on Human Rights. We also applied under Article 3, it protects a person from torture and humiliating treatment.
It turns out that Azerbaijan has violated the mentioned articles. We demand that urgent measures be applied to Azerbaijan immediately. In other words, if the European Court had given Azerbaijan time until September 22 to provide information about the whereabouts of the captives, to provide medical certificates, if any, and to fill in the rest of the points, now we demand that an urgent measure be applied quickly.
The information will also be sent to the UN International Court of Justice in the form of a letter. We will inform you about the progress,” said Hasmik Samvelyan.
