In her remarks US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi firstly thanked the Armenian Speaker of Parliament for hosting the US Congressional delegation and for the commitment to strengthen the cooperation between the two countries and the two parliaments.
“It was my honor to host the Speaker in the United States capital earlier this year, during which we discussed issues relating to strengthening democracy and security in Armenia. Now it’s a great honor to be the first Speaker of the House, a highest-ranking American ever, to visit Armenia where we are continuing our dialogue.
We just had a very productive meeting during which we reaffirmed our commitment, the commitment of the United States Congress to advancing security, economic development and democratic institutions in Armenia and in the region. We discussed with pride that Congress took in leading way to secure the US formal recognition of the Armenian Genocide, which we did in legislation in 2019 which President Biden made official last year.
“We are grateful to President Biden for that and for inviting the Prime Minister to participate in the Democracy Summit,” Pelosi said.
