Armenia is relying on legal decision while speaking about delimitation and demarcation, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said in parliament, noting that this is Armenia’s logical position.
“If we speak about maps, we must rely on the maps which are in turn relying on legal decision. Any map is just a painting without legal basis,” the PM said.
Pashinyan said that studies have been made into what legal bases exist on borders between Armenia and Azerbaijan or maps. “We have offered and we offer the delimitation and demarcation to be done on this principle between Armenia and Azerbaijan. This means that the borders separating Soviet Armenia and Soviet Azerbaijan, which, by the way, have already been recognized by the 1991 CIS Almaty declaration and then ratified by respective agreement by parliaments. The claim that there is no border between Armenia and Azerbaijan is wrong. That border exists and that border today is violated by Azerbaijan which undertook a two-phased aggression, first on May 12 of 2021 and the second now,” Pashinyan said, adding that Armenia must use all diplomatic, political and military-political methods to defend its territorial integrity and sovereignty.
