Hundreds of firefighters battled what has been called the Mosquito Fire in Northern California on Wednesday (September 7), Reuters reports.
Evacuation orders have been issued for parts of the Tahoe National Forest and Foresthill, a town near Sacramento, the Sacramento Bee reported.
It wasn't clear on Wednesday how many structures were destroyed in the fire. Video from Foresthill showed burnt vehicles and a massive smoke cloud rising over the treeline.
The fire is one of two massive fires the state is dealing with.
Evacuation orders were also in place in the southern part of the state, near Los Angeles as firefighters worked to contain the Fairview Fire.
As of Wednesday (September 7), only 5 percent of the Fairview Fire in Riverside was contained after scorching 7,000 acres (2,830 hectares), according to the Riverside County Fire Department. The fire has claimed the lives of two people and injured another.
