The Ministry of Foreign Affairs responds to Turkey’s new challenge, after Soylu’s statements, informing the EU, USA, UN and NATO.
According to diplomatic sources, in the wake of the unprecedented statements emanating from Turkish officials in recent days, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias, in addition to immediately informing the European partners, including HR/AE Borrell and the US last Saturday, immediately sends relevant letters to all members of the Security Council, the UN Secretary General, as well as the NATO Secretary General.
Athens sends letters with the exact statements of the Turkish officials.
The Turkish officials’ statements will be quoted verbatim in said letters. In fact, the same sources emphasize that the Greek side considers that the text of these statements is so outrageous that any comment is unnecessary.
The foreign minister also thanked his Czech counterpart Jan Lipavský for the immediate reaction of the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU, which called the recent Turkish statements “unacceptable” and “not at all helpful”.
This time Ankara is referring to the arrest of a man it calls a “terrorist” who belongs to the PKK and is accused of preparing attacks.
Turkish media, as well as the Minister of the Interior of Turkey Suleiman Soylu, claim that the arrested person was trained in Greece, specifically in Lavrio.

It should be noted that this was not the first time that Ankara has made such claims. Soilou himself had made similar claims last February about a terrorist training camp in Lavrio.
Takis Theodorikakos gave an answer today to the false claims of Soilos.
“Turkish provocation has exceeded all limits of extreme rhetoric,” said the Minister of Citizen Protection.
“At a time when Turkey continues to instrumentalize the human suffering of irregular migrants, “using” it as a constant lever of threat to all of Europe, its Minister of the Interior repeats yesterday his well-known sad and provocative lies against Greece”, he continued .
“Everyone realizes that they have nothing to do with reality.
Everyone knows that Greece is today the international and reliable power of the faithful and decisive application of International Law”, he concludes in a stern tone.
