The European Commission reacts too slowly to the rapid increase in gas and electricity prices. It has yet to come up with any clear proposals on how to stop rising gas prices. Charles Michel, the President of the European Council, expressed such an opinion in an interview with the newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung.
“We did not discover the problem today. The issue was discussed for the first time in October last year and has been discussed many times since then. We have repeatedly asked the European Commission to present clear proposals. For our citizens, families, companies, the increase in the price of gas and electricity is a disaster,” said the President of the European Council. According to Michel, the European Union cannot waste any more time.
It is expected that the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, will make a speech in the European Parliament on September 14 and present clear initiatives for the rapid reduction of electricity prices.
