On this very day, September 2, 1991, the declaration of independence of Nagorno Karabakh was adopted, a document that marked the beginning of the process of independence of the state.
The document considered to be the decision of the joint session of the deputies of the Nagorno Karabakh Autonomous Region and the Shahumyan region defined the vision of ensuring a safe and peaceful life of Artsakh Armenians in the interest of protecting their rights and interests.
We were in Artsakh with my colleague Lilit Stepanyan, a member of the RA National Assembly, on a working visit to honor and lay flowers in memory of those who were martyred for the protection of the rights of Artsakh Armenians, heroes who told us to live and create, to work for the sake of peace, for the sake of a peaceful motherland, for the sake of a safe existence and life for all of us.
During the visit, we had meetings with the President of the Republic of Artsakh, Arayik Harutyunyan, and the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Artsakh, Artur Tovmasyan, during which we discussed the current stage of the Karabakh conflict, the activities of the Republic of Armenia, the activities of the OSCE Minsk Group, as well as the vision and goal of achieving peace and security in the South Caucasus, and security issues in the context of the foreign policy of the Republic of Armenia.
I specifically mentioned that the Republic of Armenia is at the forefront of the settlement of the Karabakh issue, the protection of the natural and inalienable rights of the Artsakh Armenians, for the sake of the restoration of historical justice and the fundamental right of the peaceful life of the Artsakh Armenians.
The policy adopted by the Republic of Armenia in relation to the Karabakh issue is the proof and confirmation of the simple truth that our compatriots lived, are living, and have the right to live in their historical homeland in safe and secure conditions, where their rights will be protected, the reality that is the core of the Karabakh issue and its most important basis.
The Karabakh problem is current, because the fundamental problems of the security and protection of the rights of the people of Artsakh have not been addressed, a problem that the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship is aimed at solving. Guaranteeing the security and rights of the Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh and a comprehensive and long-term solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, using the experience and potential of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship, continue to be key to achieving stability and peace in the South Caucasus, steps to reduce as much as possible the threats that hinder the peaceful life of Artsakh Armenians.
The Republic of Armenia is still taking steps to reduce as much as possible the threats that hinder the peaceful life of Artsakh Armenians.
Yes, the Republic of Armenia continues to be committed to providing all the necessary conditions for the life of the people of Artsakh and to live safely in their homeland.
