The US Embassy in Azerbaijan responded to the statement of Hikmet Hajiyev, adviser to the President of Azerbaijan, that the French and US ambassadors in Azerbaijan openly disregarded the government's invitation to visit Shushi, which, in his opinion, should be evaluated as non-recognition of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity. Hajiyev also emphasized that France and the USA, as co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, did not contribute to the settlement of the Karabakh conflict.
"The United States believes that through constant dialogue and cooperation, including at the highest level, we can do our best to help achieve a lasting and comprehensive peace. There is no greater supporter of Azerbaijan's independence and sovereignty than Washington. The employees of the US Embassy have visited and are visiting all regions of Azerbaijan, including Aghdam, Zangelan and Fizuli," the embassy statement reads.
Earlier, the French representation in the OSCE also responded to the statements from Baku, reminding that the Minsk Group provides a platform for negotiations on the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, so that, ultimately, stability is established in the South Caucasus.
