Prospects for top-level talks between Russia and Ukraine will depend on the development of the situation, such talks are possible only under certain conditions, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said on Friday, TASS reports.
"It will depend on the development of the situation. We have always been ready to speak with him," he said in an interview with France’s LCI television channel. "It’s a different matter that they have been trying to push for top-level talks but it was said to them, both by our president and other participants in these talks, that such a meeting is possible only under certain conditions."
He recalled that talks with the Ukrainian side had been organized both in Belarus and in Turkey and "for a time being, he (Zelensky - TASS) was a participant in these talks, along with representatives of his team."
"But at a certain point, Ukraine’s authorities, led by Zelensky, said they did not need these talks but wanted to continue the war till final victory, or, as is said today, the war till the last Ukrainian. And they withdrew from the talks not to take part in them any longer," Medevedv added.
