Ukraine has exported more than 840,000 tonnes of agricultural products since the launch of the Black Sea Grain Initiative, said the Joint Coordination Center of the initiative on Friday.
The Black Sea Grain Initiative was launched in Istanbul by the Russia, Turkey, Ukraine and United Nations on July 22, 2022.
Defense Minister of Turkey Hulusi Akar said Russia was carrying out discussion with the UN on exporting Russian agricultural products and fertilizers via maritime transportation, noting the Turkish side supports the expansion of the trading mode to the energy sector.
Also on Friday, the joint coordination center announced the official launch of a 320 nautical miles long new route connecting Ukraine's Black Sea port of Odesa, Chornomorsk, and Yuzhny to the inspection areas within the Turkish territorial waters.
The new route, coming into effect on Friday, will effectively shorten the transportation time for vessels traveling through the maritime humanitarian corridor.
On the new route, no military vessels, aircraft or drones are allowed to approach the vessels authorized by the coordination center within 10 nautical miles.
