Ukraine has exported 3.41 million tonnes of grain, including 2.18 million tonnes of corn (64% of all grain exports), 937,000 tonnes of wheat (27.5%), and 274,000 tonnes of barley (8%), since the beginning of the 2022-2023 marketing year (July 2022-June 2023).
The pace of grain exports since the start of the current marketing year was 2.06 times lower than in the same period last year (Ukraine exported 7 million tonnes of grain on July 1 August 26, 2021), Ukrainian media said on Friday, citing the website of Ukraine's Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food.
Between August 19 and August 26, Ukraine exported 430,000 tonnes of grain (61,400 tonnes daily), compared to 770,000 tonnes (96,200 tonnes daily) between August 11 and 19, 340,000 tonnes (48,600 tonnes per day) between August 5 and 11, and 640,000 tonnes (71,100 tonnes per day) between July 27 and August 5. Hence, the average daily rate of grain exports declined by 36.1% on August 19-26 compared to August 11-19.
Since the start of the 2022-2023 marketing year, Ukraine has exported 937,000 tonnes of wheat (3.6 times less year-on-year), 247,000 tonnes of barley (8.7 times less), and 10,100 tonnes of flour (half of what was exported as of August 26, 2021).
However, corn exports since the beginning of the 2022-2023 marketing year stood at 2.18 million tonnes, a 1.8-fold increase year-on-year. In addition, Ukraine began exporting rye this week for the first time since the start of the 2022-2023 marketing year, shipping 400,000 tonnes of this crop to foreign customers. In total, Ukraine exported 240,000 tonnes of corn, 154,000 tonnes of wheat, 17,000 tonnes of barley, and 2,700 tonnes of flour between August 19 and 26.
As reported, Ukraine exported 48.51 million tonnes of grain and leguminous crops in the 2021-2022 marketing year, which is 8.4% more than in the previous marketing year. In particular, it exported 18.74 million tonnes of wheat (+12.6% year-on-year), 23.54 million tonnes of corn (+1.9%), 5.75 million tonnes of barley (+35.9%), and 70,900 tonnes of flour (-44.1%).
In the 2020-2021 marketing year, Ukraine exported 44.72 million tonnes of grain and leguminous crops, including 16.64 million tonnes of wheat, 23.08 million tonnes of corn, 4.23 million tonnes of barley, 126,900 tonnes of flour, and 18,400 tonnes of rye.
In the 2019-2020 marketing year, Ukraine exported 56.72 million tonnes of grain and leguminous crops.
