Germany is supplying Ukraine with all types of weapons and military hardware in its possession, including some of the newly-manufactured advanced systems that have not yet entered service with the German army itself, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said, Interfax reports.
"We delivered whatever we had: anti-tank and anti-aircraft systems, mines, guns, tons of ammunition and non-lethal aid," Scholz said in an interview with The Globe and Mail.
"Since then we have moved to more complex and high-value systems. Self-propelled howitzers, Multiple Launch Rocket Systems, anti-aircraft systems, counter battery radar," he said.
"Some of these systems are so new that only very few have been produced and some of them have not even been introduced in the Bundeswehr," he said.
"Ukrainians are being trained on new and more sophisticated equipment in several locations in Germany," Scholz said.
Germany will continue to provide support to Ukraine "as long as it takes," he said.
Scholz reiterated that it is "simply not true" that Germany has reduced its military support for Ukraine despite promises to the contrary.
