The reconstruction works of the M-12/Tegh-Kornidzor highway will start in August, Armenia’s Ministry of Territorial Management and Infrastructure informed last week. On the first day of the month, the bids of the organizations that applied for the tender announced in 3 lots were opened.
Gor Avetisyan (Executive Director of the Road Department Foundation) - The Armenian government initiated the reconstruction works of the Tegh-Kornidzor highway, which is planned to connect to the new route of the Lachin Corridor defined by the trilateral declaration.
The need for the construction of the new route is stipulated in point 6 of the joint statement of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the President of the Russian Federation dated November 9, 2020.
"According to the agreement of the parties, in order to ensure the connection between Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenia, a project for the construction of a new route of the Lachin Corridor will be approved within the next three years, after which the Russian peacekeeping troops will be redeployed to protect this route."
On June 30, 2022, according to the Government's decision, money was allocated to carry out design-research, geodesy-mapping works for the purpose of road reconstruction. The builders are already here, the construction works will start in the coming days.
